  • Make small lemon sized balls with the dough. For each step grease your hands with sesame oil.

  • Then continue towards the centre of the ball so that you make a bowl shape, fill stuffing in it.
  • Gather all the sides and pinch together in the middle and make a mothagam shape
  • Now follow the same and make the rest of dough. After that arrange it in a idly plate or steamer cook for 10 mins.
  • Now it is ready, Serve hot..
Notes
  • Water we are adding in jaggery should be very less. The lesser we add water to jaggery, sooner the stuffing will get ready.
  • The another way of making Pooranam is - Add the grated jaggery, grated coconut, Cardamon powder, Mashed Channa Dal in a mixing bowl, And Mash it altogether with a spoon or fork, Now the pooranam is ready. You can do this when your jaggery is not having any impurities.
  • Keep the dough always closed and try to finish making the kolukattais as soon as possible as keeping for long time may lead to cracking/dry kolukattais.
  • Boil water well, the dough should get cooked 3/4th,then only the dough will be not sticky and also soft after cooking.
