Ganesh Chaturthi Special Kara Pidi Kolukattai

Ingredients
  • Rice Flour - 1 cup
  • Water - As needed
  • Salt - As needed
  • Chopped coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Red Chili – 3 cut into small pieces
  • Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
  • Curry Leaves – 1 spring
Method:
Step 1:
  • Heat oil in a pan, Add mustard seeds, Curry leaves, Urad dal, Asafoetida, Red chili, one by one, allow it to splutter.
  • Add water, salt, coconut, bring to boil.
  • Add rice flour, mix well in low flame.
  • keep this cooking till it leaves the sides and comes together, Then allow it to cool. knead once so it is smooth.
  • Grease your hands slightly with some oil and take small portion from it and press slightly.
  • Place it in a steamer or Idly plate and steam it  10 mins.
  • Now Kara Kolukattai is ready
Notes 
  • Careful in water measurement,It may vary for home made flour.
  • Grease hands to avoid sticking
  • If  making large quantities, cover the shaped kolukattais to avoid drying.
