Moong Dal Laddu / Pasi Paruppu Laddu 


Moong Dal Laddu is often called as Nei Urundai. The main ingredient is ghee for this recipe. It will melts in your mouth and tastes excellent. This is very easy sweet we can prepare 2 days before Diwali. It will definitely be loved by kids.

Ingredients
  • Pasi Paruppu / Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
  • Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Ghee - 1/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder- 1 tsp
  • Cashews - 7


Method:
Step 1:
  • Heat a pan, dry roast moong dal in medium heat until it turns golden brown and you will get nice aroma.
  • Allow it to cool completely, take a mixer, make a fine powder, In between grinding, wipe the sides to make sure no dal is stuck to the walls of the mixer. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
  • Grind sugar in the mixer, make as a fine powder, transfer to the same bowl.
Step 2:
  • Add cardamom powder in the bowl
  • Meanwhile melt ghee in a pan, fry cashews, Pour the melted ghee along with cashews in the mixing bowl. Mix well with a laddle.
  • If its hot, let it wait until you are able to handle the heat and start making laddus.
  • Store in an airtight container and enjoy your laddus.
Notes
  • You can sieve the powdered dal and sugar if you think its not ground properly.
  • While roasting moong dal take care not to burn it, it should be nice golden brown in colour. So keep stirring continuously.
  • Heating up ghee and adding is to shape the laddus easily and it holds its shape well.But mix well with spatula and then handle with your hands only when its warm.
  • You can also use unrefined cane sugar/ Nattu Sakkarai instead of using sugar
