Channa is also called Chickpeas which is high in fiber and protein. It is very flavorful and protein rich dosai. It is a tasty food for diabetes also. The iron, phosphate, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, and vitamin K in channa all contribute to building and maintaining bone structure and strength.It is a healthy and yummy breakfast or dinner dish. Serve with your favorite chutney and enjoy the dish
Ingredients
- White Channa - 1 Cup
- Raw rice - 1/2 Cup
- Flattened Rice/ Aval - 1/4 Cup
- Red Chilies - 4
- Curry leaves - 3 Springs ( Chopped)
- Chopped Small Onion - 1/4 Cup
- Grated Coconut - 3 tsp
- Salt - As needed
- Oil - As needed
Method
Step 1:
- Wash and soak the Channa in water and set it aside for 6-7 hours.
- Soak the rice for 2 hours and flattened rice for 15 mins separately.
- Take a blender, Add soaked channa first and grind it smoothly, then add soaked rice with it and grind it, and then add flattened rice, Red chilies in it, grind all together as a smooth batter of a medium consistency.
- Transfer it to a bowl, Add chopped curry leaves and salt and mix everything to a nice and smooth batter like normal dosa batter.
- Meanwhile add chopped onion, grated coconut, a pinch of salt in a separate bowl, keep aside.
Step 2:
- Grease a non stick flat pan/ Dosa tawa and heat it smoky hot.
- Pour a ladleful of batter, Spread it thin or thick as u wish. Drizzle a tsp of oil around the dosa and in the middle of dosa. sprinkle the onion coconut mixture all over the dosa. cover tawa with a lid and Let it cook in medium flame for few minutes.
- Flip the dosa and cook the other side for few minutes.
- Remove the cooked dosa from tawa and continue making dosa with the rest of the batter
- Serve Hot with Chutney.
Notes
- You can refrigerate the batter and use it the next day.
- You can also use Black Channa instead of using white.
- The batter should not be too runny or too thick.
- You can also add grated carrot along with the Onion.
