South Indian Special Mutton Liver Curry/ Eeral Gravy

Mutton Liver is a traditional dish in South Tamil Nadu. In chettinad it is a very famous dish. This recipe is a spicy delicious preparation - a treat for non-veg lovers. Mutton Liver is a very good source of Vitamin A and kids love this yummy tasteMy mom used to do this dish very often. It tastes rich and flavorful than Mutton Curry. 
Ingredients
  • Mutton Liver - 1/2 kg
  • Chopped Onion - 1 Cup
  • Tomato - 1 (Chopped)
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 Cup
  • Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1 tsp
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon Stick - 1/2 small inch
  • Salt - As needed
  • Oil - As needed

Method:
Step 1:
  • Clean, wash and cut the mutton liver to medium sized pieces.
  • Add Turmeric powder in it, Mix well, Again wash it to avoid smell in the liver.
  • Heat oil in a Cooker, Add Bay leaf, Cloves, Cinnamon stick, Allow it for seasoning.
  • Add Chopped onion, Fry until it turns golden, Add Ginger garlic paste, mix well until the raw smell goes up.
  • Add chopped tomato, mash well, Add Liver pieces in it. Mix well until the excess water in the liver evaporates.
  • Add Red Chili powder, Coriander powder, Garam Masala, Mix well.
Step 2:
  • Take a Mixer, Add Grated coconut, fennel seeds, Grind it as a smooth paste.
  • Add grinded paste, salt, 1 & 1/2 cups of water in the cooker, Pressure cook for 3-4 Whistles.
  • Open the pressure cooker, keep the flame in low, until it comes to gravy consistency and the oil floats on the top.
  • Serve Hot.
Notes
  • Add 1 & 1/2 Cups of water for pressure cooking mutton liver, You can adjust water when you need Thick Consistency.
  • You can cook with kadai instead of using cooker.
  • Don't over cook Mutton liver, It will turns hard.
