Millets are one of the most important cereal grains, It contains around 15 % of protein and is rich in fiber. It is a rich source of Vitamin E, B complex, niacin, thiamin and riboflavin. In addition, millet also contains essential amino acids, It is natural coolant, it is useful for weight loss, it prevent blood sugar spikes, If you are suffering from constipation, try eating pearl millet and the next day you will find that you don’t have any constipation problem, that is because of the high fiber.
Ingredients
- Pearl Millet Flour - 1/2 Cup
- Water – as needed
- Sugar – 1/4 cup
- Grated Coconut – 3 tbsp
- Cardamom powder – a tiny pinch
- Ghee – 2 tsp
- Salt -a tiny pinch
Method:
Step 1:
- Heat a Pan, Add Pearl Millet flour in it dry roast it until aroma comes, switch off the flame, Now add 2 tsp of water, salt in it.
- Mix well without any lumps, hold the flour tightly with your hands if it holds then this is the right consistency.
- Transfer it to a steamer or idly plate, steam it for 15 - 20 mins. Open it you can see the flour colour changes.
- Transfer it to a mixing bowl add sugar, grated coconut, cardamom powder,ghee, Mix well.
- Serve Hot/ Warm.
Notes
- Mix well without lumps before steaming.
- Use a cloth in the steamer plate and spread the flour on it. it gives softer puttu.
- The puttu will be seen dry after steaming, But after adding sugar , coconut and ghee it will become moist.
- You can also do this by using puttu maker.
