Easy & Tasty Rava Vadai/ Semolina Vada

Rava Vadai is a simple and easy snack which children will always love it. We usually do rava dosa or upma with rava. but it is a different try which comes very well. It can be a evening snack. Instead of doing regular vadai like paruppu vadai, ulunthu vada. You may try this. You will really love it....

Ingredients
  • Rava/ Semolina - 1 Cup
  • Curd/Yogurt - 1/2 cup
  • Curry leaves - 2 Spring
  • Coriander leaves - 1/2 handful
  • Green chilli - 2-3 (Chopped)
  • Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Grated ginger - 1 tsp
  • Chopped onion - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - As needed
  • Oil - To deep fry

Method:
Step 1:
  • Take a bowl, Add Rava/ Semolina, Curd/Yogurt, Salt, Chopped curry leaves, Coriander leaves, Green Chillies, Baking soda, Cumin seeds, Grated ginger, chopped onion in it.
  • Mix well to form a dough, rest the dough for 25 minutes, so that the rava absorbs moisture and swells.
Step 2:
  • Grease both hands with oil and take a ball sized dough, flatten with hands and make a hole in center.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, slowly drop it into hot oil.fry the vadas on medium flame.
  • fry the vadas till they turn golden brown from both sides.
  • Serve Hot with coconut chutney.
Notes
  • Dont bother about whether the rava is roasted or not. you can do this by both.
  • Dont use more water for preparing dough. If it is too dry just sprinkle the water in it.
  • Using sour curd make vada more tasty.
  • The dough should have enough moisture,else it will turn hard.
