Mutton Thokku / Lamb Curry

- Mutton - 1/2 Kg
- Chopped Onion - 1 Cup
- Chopped Tomato - 3/4 Cup
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
- Bay Leaf - 1
- Cloves - 3
- Cinnamon - 1/2 inch piece
- Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Oil - As needed
- Coriander Powder - 1 & 1/2 tsp
- Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
- Chopped Coriander - 1/4 Cup
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
- Garam/ Curry Masala - 1 tsp
- Black Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
- Salt - As needed
Method
Step 1:
- Take a Cooker, Add washed Mutton Pieces, Turmeric Powder, Ginger Garlic Paste (1/2 tsp), Water, Pressure cook for 4 - 5 Whistles, Keep aside.
- Heat Oil in kadai, Add Bay leaf, Cloves, Cinnamon, Fennel seeds, allow it for seasoning.
- Add Chopped onion, Fry until it turns golden, Add Ginger garlic paste, mix well until the raw smell goes up.
- Add chopped tomato, mash well. Add coriander leaves, Mix well
- Add Salt, chili powder, coriander powder, garam/curry masala, Black Pepper Powder one by one and mix well. Allow it to cook for 5 mins.
Step 2:
- Open the pressure cooker, Add the cooked mutton pieces along with water in the kadai, Close the lid, Allow it to cook for 10 mins.
- keep the flame in low, until the excess water gets evaporated and the oil floats on the top.
- Serve Hot, Mutton Thokku is Ready.
Notes
- You can pressure cook for some more whistles if the mutton is not cooked.
- Add 1 & 1/2 Cups of water for pressure cooking mutton, You can adjust water when you need Thick Consistency.
- Thick fine paste of coconut can also be added after the mutton is pressure cooked.
