Crab Gravy / Nandu Masala
Crab Gravy/ Nandu Masala
Ingredients:
- Crab - 1 kg
- oil - 3 tsp
- Chopped small onion - 1 cup
- Small onion for grind - 1/2 cup
- Tomato - 2
- Green Chilly - 2
- Pepper - 2 tsp
- Cumin - 1/2 tsp
- Chopped Ginger - 1
- Garlic - 8 Cloves
- Fennel Seeds - 2 tsp
- Chopped Coconut - 1 cup
- Red Chilly Powder - 2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves, Coriander leaves, Salt - as needed
Step 1:
- Clean the crab and cut it into desired size.
- Take a mixer, add small onion, green chilly, pepper, cumin, ginger, garlic, fennel seeds and grind it all together, Keep it aside.
- Add coconut in the mixer and grind it separately.
- Heat oil in a deep pan (kadai) and allow mustard seeds ,curry leaves to sizzle.
- Add chopped onion, fry till it turns golden.
- Add tomato and cook till the tomatoes are mashed up
- Add the grinded paste except coconut and cook until raw smell goes up.
- Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder and mix well
- Add salt, grinded coconut and mix well
- Now add the crabs in the kadai and mix to coat the crabs with the masala paste.
- Add some water depending on how much gravy you need. You can also make it a semi gravy dish.
- Cover the kadai and let it cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Finally add chopped coriander leaves and switch off.
Notes
- Don't add too much of water. Because crab has already water inside.
- You can grind the tomato's instead of chopping.
