Crab Soup/ Nandu Rasam for Common Colds


            Crab Soup is good home remedy for common colds. Nandu / Crab Soup is very healthy and also good enough to boost your immunity. Crabs are  considered to be high in protein and low in fat & calories. In general, eating crab increases body heat( temperature). My mom says, the juice of crabs removes cold mucus from chest and relieves from cold. Not only crab Soup is prepared for treating colds it is very delicious in taste and can be prepared any day. 

Ingredients
  • Crab - 5
  • Black Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  • Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Red Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
  • Tomato - 1 (Chopped)
  • Small Onion chopped - 1/4 Cup
  • Garlic - 5 (Chopped) 
  • Curry Leaves - 1 Spring
  • Turmeric Powder- 1 tsp
  • Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Salt - As needed
Method
Step 1:
  • Clean the crab and cut it into desired size. Add turmeric Powder, Wash the crabs again. This will helps to remove the smell in crabs.
  • Heat oil in a Pressure Cooker, Add Fennel Seeds,Curry leaves, Allow it for Seasoning. 
  • Add Chopped Onion, Fry until it turns golden, Add Tomato, Mash well.
  • Add Red Chilly powder, Garlic, Black Pepper Powder, Cumin Powder, Mix Well.
  • Add Crabs in it. Mix well. Add Salt, 4 Cups of Water in it, Pressure Cook for 2 Whistles.
  • Crab Soup is ready, Serve Hot.
Notes
  • Break the leg pieces of crab, so that the crab meat combines well with the masala.
  • You can grind the tomato's instead of chopping.
How to Clean the crab
  • Its so easy to clean the crabs, though it looks freaking scary. Pull the top crab shell from side, gently insert a knife on the side of crab and give a lift. The shell comes out smoothly. Trim the end of the legs and wash the crabs whole couple of times. If your crabs are too big you can halve them.
